Troubleshooting a Domain That’s Not Working

Just added a custom domain but still seeing an error or blank page? Here’s how to fix it.

🛠️ Quick Checklist

1. You added the domain correctly?
   • Go to your GreatPLR Hosting Dashboard → Connected Domains → Make sure your domain is listed under the correct site.
2. You used the right DNS settings?
   • Log in to your domain provider’s control panel and add a CNAME record that points to your assigned GreatPLR subdomain (e.g., yourdomain.com → yourname.greatplrhost.com).

Type:     CNAME  
Name/Host: yourdomain.com (or www if using www.yourdomain.com)  
Value:    your GreatPLR subdomain (e.g. ryantest1.digitalemergencykit.com)

3. You waited at least 5–10 minutes?
   • Our system updates site configurations within 5 minutes after a domain is added. But…
4. You waited up to 48 hours for DNS to fully propagate?
   • Some domain registrars take time to update — especially if it’s a brand new domain or if nameservers were just changed.

🧪 Still Not Working?

Here’s how to check:

• ✅ Use https://dnschecker.org to see if your CNAME record is resolving worldwide.
• ✅ Try viewing your site in an incognito/private tab to rule out cache issues.
• ✅ Check that SSL (HTTPS) is working — our system automatically issues certificates once the CNAME is working.

🔄 Common Fixes

• ❌ Domain not resolving at all
  → Double-check spelling in the CNAME record
  → Confirm the record is saved and active in your registrar’s dashboard
• ❌ Still seeing a setup message?
  → This usually means DNS hasn’t fully propagated yet
• ❌ It worked before but now shows a warning
  → Your CNAME may have been removed or expired. Check DNS settings again.
